A38 Selly Oak Bypass 25 August 2011
The scheme provides a new dual two-lane road to carry the A38 through the Selly Oak area of Birmingham. The new road will avoid the existing four-lane single carriageway road which runs through the a busy commercial centre. The new road will also facilitate fast access to the A4040 Harborne Road and the newly opened Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
The work includes new bridges for the Birmingham and Worcester Canal and the cross-city railway line. Extensive temporary works are enlisted for diverting the canal, so that works on the bridge alignment do not close it to traffic.
A38 Dobwalls Bypass 1 November 2008
Construction of a new bypass to carry the A38 around the village of Dobwalls. Currently the main road between Plymouth and Bodmin passes through the town, causing heavy traffic in the holiday season, and a bypass has been planned since the 1960s. The new road will be dual two-lane standard, running from the roundabout to the west to tie in to the Liskeard bypass.
