A21 Castle Hill-Pembury improvement 8 May 2017
Upgrade of the A21 between the A26 near Castle Hill and the Longfield road roundabout near Pembury to a dual carriageway standard. This is one of the most congested sections of road and is a high priority. Longfield road roundabout will be grade separated, giving access to a new regional hospital. This section of road, on average, carries 46,000 vehicles a day.
There will also be another minor road grade separated.
A21 Kippings Cross to Lamberhurst Improvement 24 October 2010
Offine upgrade of the A21 between Pembury and the A262 to dual two-lane standard. This complements the larger A21 South Pembury to Hastings improvement.
A21 Lamberhurst Bypass 26 October 2008
Construction of a new dual-carriageway bypass to the town of Lamberhurst, including a 'green bridge' to shield the National Trust property Scotney Castle from the road's presence - this will be an overbridge several times wider than the castle approach road to prevent visitors noticing they are passing over the A21.
It has been announced since work on this scheme started that a further two sections of the A21 are to be dualled also, Kippings Cross to Lamberhurst and Tonbridge to Pembury.
