Coventry's ring road is pure chaos

Have you ever driven the Coventry Ring Road? There's nothing else like it in the world. A tight circular racetrack surrounds the city centre with junctions so close together there's only a few seconds for traffic to get on and off.

Travel back in time to 16 October 2004, and take two laps of the whole circuit - once clockwise and then again anticlockwise. The road has changed since this was filmed, with junction 6 rebuilt and lots of new electronic signs everywhere.

You might also like our long read on the Coventry Ring Road, and some photos we shared more recently of its new electronic signs.

With thanks to Steven Jukes for driving!

What's new

Hello, here's my ridiculous side project

An introduction to what I write, and why I write it, and where my strange new road sign simulator fits in to all this.

London, in a new light

It was specially designed never to be noticed. And now it's disappearing, nobody has noticed its absence. It's London's own bespoke street light.

The Ringways Map is here

The wait is over! The full map of the Ringways, London’s unbuilt urban motorway network, is now online. Not even the system's planners had anything like this.

Have you seen...

Hogarth Flyover

It makes the traffic situation in one part of West London much more bearable but it should have been removed more than quarter of a century ago. It's amazing what you can do with a big Meccano kit.
