A49 underbridge, view west (see all photos of the same view)

The end of the motorway, approaching the terminal roundabout, is taking its final form. In the foreground, a top layer of concrete is being laid on a waterproofing course on the A49 bridge deck in between the two carriageways. The gap between them - and the immense width of the bridge and the embankment beyond it - were designed to allow for a future continuation of the motorway over the top of the roundabout. This was never built.
