Stanworth rock cutting, view east (see all photos of the same view)

The rock cutting at Stanworth is now approaching its full depth: on the right, two steps can be seen down the slope, which are present even now on the finished road. In the distance, beyond the boundary into contract 2, a row of massive piers have been built to support the viaduct over Stanworth Valley.

South London's lost motorways

Completing the story of London's epic Ringways, we've just published the Southern Radials, five more motorways that never saw the light of day.

Two new additions to our collection of Opening Booklets take us to Darlington and Middlesbrough.
