Bridge piers for the viaduct that will carry the M65 have been completed on the west side of the M61, at the bottom of the picture. On the east side, more are under construction, with some of the foundations visible. Traffic using M61 junction 9 has been diverted around the west side of the future roundabout and down the Walton Summit Motorway.
