In the foreground, the south-facing sliproads at the new interchange are already in use, carrying traffic on a temporary route through the worksite to reach the A6. The reason can be seen in the background: at the top of the picture, the old south-facing sliproads at junction 29 are interrupted by excavation work. They will eventually be rebuilt to link up with the new roundabout in the middle of the picture.
