Brindle Road overbridge demolition, 29 April 1996

Brindle Road overbridge demolition (see all photos of the same view)

The old bridge carrying Brindle Road over the M61 has very recently been demolished. This picture was taken on a Monday; it is likely the demolition was carried out during a closure of the M61 over the weekend. Parts of the bridge span now lie on the verges and are seen here being broken up. Debris still lies on the hard shoulder and the M61 is reduced to two lanes each way through the work site. On the right, the abutment for the new bridge is partly built.
