Work has yet to start on the underbridge, but the Walton Summit Motorway and its small terminal roundabout have already been mostly completed. These works were accelerated at the start of the contract so that the existing M61 link road, seen here just above the roundabout, and which lay in the path of the future M65, could be removed.
