Piers for the long viaduct across the junction are now beginning to take shape, and half of the future roundabout is not just built but in service. The part nearest the camera was part of the original M61 junction 9 and has been retained. In the distance, the new Brindle Road bridge over the M61 is nearing completion; its opening will allow the existing bridge to be demolished and the north side of the roundabout to be built.
