9 November 2010

Funding for this scheme was confirmed by the Transport Secretary following the recent autumn spending review.

25 April 2011

Construction is scheduled to start in 2012/2013, according to the Highways Agency.

3 January 2012

The contractor for this scheme (Carillion) was appointed today. The main phase of construction is now expected to start between April and June 2012.

18 April 2012

Average speed cameras have now been installed between junctions 5 and 8.

10 May 2012

Work on this scheme is now well underway. A controversial lane drop northbound at J6 is causing major traffic issues in rush hours.

7 October 2014

The Highways Agency are listing a completion date of August 2014, but the scheme is still classed as 'current'.

13 October 2014

The scheme has been completed, with small scale ancillary and environmental works continuing for a few weeks.
