Scheme outline
Construction of a new single two-lane road to bypass the level crossing at Sturry where the A28 crosses the Canterbury-Ramsgate railway line.
The new road will allow through traffic to avoid delays caused by the level crossing and will open up land to the west of Sturry to new development, where Kent County Council expects the construction of up to 1,000 new houses.
At the eastern end of the new road, a short spur will connect to the A291.
