A470

Merthyr Tydfil
to
Cardiff

Think of the busiest roads in Wales and you will inevitably think of the M4 and the A55. Often overlooked is the A470 between Cardiff and Merthyr Tydfil, a remarkable road that is, by any meaningful measure, an urban motorway.

Routes

A470 Cwmbach to Newbridge 10 December 2011

The aim of this scheme is to replace a winding section of the A470 north of Builth Wells with a new single carriageway road to improve safety and overtaking opportunities. The new road will also allow traffic to avoid the low bridge at Cwmbach and the traffic lights at Pont-ar-Ithon.
