Scheme outline
Construction of a new single two-lane road around the west side of Warrington Town Centre, linking the A56 Chester Road at Walton Lea with the A57 Sankey Way at the junction of Cromwell Avenue. The new road will bridge the River Mersey and the Manchester Ship Canal, creating a new crossing to relieve the existing bridge in the town centre, and will have an intermediate roundabout within a loop of the Mersey, opening up new land for development.
The road will, when complete, effectively extend Cromwell Avenue around to the south of the town, forming a ring road around the west side of Warrington.
The name and classification of the road, when completed, is not yet known.
