Construction of a new single two-lane road between the A9 at Inshes, south-east of Inverness, and the A96 at Smithton. When the A96 dualling scheme is complete, the new road will connect at one of the improved A96's interchanges.
The road is designed to open up land for development to the east of Inverness and reduce reliance on the A9 and A96 for local journeys in this area. It is being taken forward by Transport Scotland, but will almost certainly be a local authority road when complete.
Draft orders have now been published for this scheme, and public exhibitions took place on 25th and 26th September.
