Scheme outline
Upgrade of the existing single carriageway A9 to a dual two-lane road between the end of the existing dual carriageway south of Pitlochry and the start of the next significant dual carriageway section south of Killiecrankie. The scheme will form part of a wider programme of works to dual the A9 all the way from Perth to Inverness.
This 5.7 km (3.4 mile) section is relatively short but involves some engineering difficulties, not least the constrained nature of the road in some places. An existing short section of dual carriageway and grade-separated junction at the A924 north of Pitlochry will need to be upgraded to match the rest of the works.
This scheme is part of the A9 Dualling Perth to Inverness programme of works.
