Scheme outline
Upgrade of the existing A9 single carriageway between Luncarty and Pass of Birnam to provide dual two-lane carriageways. At present this 9.5 km (5.9 mile) section of the A9 lies between two existing sections of dual two-lane road, at the south end running from Luncarty to Perth and at the north end a short overtaking section through Pass of Birnam. When the scheme is finished the dual carriageway will be continuous from Perth to Birnam.
All existing junctions on the A9 will be closed as part of the works, and replaced by an arrangement of local access roads served by two new grade separated junctions.
This scheme is part of the A9 Dualling Perth to Inverness programme of works.

Progress
It's confirmed that work is due to start on this scheme later this year.
Site clearance and tree felling have taken place. Works requiring traffic management are to commence this week.
Still not much happening other than a few groundworks to the west of the current carriageway and a few tarmac covered recesses.
