A50 Uttoxeter Junctions

Scheme outline

Improvement works to the A50 at Uttoxeter. The works will take place in two phases, being delivered by Staffordshire County Council on behalf of Highways England.

The first phase involves construction of a new grade-separated junction west of the town that will provide access to new housing developments and improve access to the JCB factory.

A second phase ("project B") will repurpose the existing Dove Lane overbridge to form the basis of a new grade-separated junction, which will then enable the two remaining roundabouts to be removed. When this is complete the A50 will pass Uttoxeter non-stop and avoid many of the regular hold-ups caused by the roundabouts. However, the second phase is still in planning and no longer forms part of this scheme. As a result this scheme was considered complete when the first new grade separated junction opened to traffic.
