Plans to start preliminary design and survey work were announced on 13 October 2010. Construction is not expected to start before 2014.
Some initial construction work began on 7 March 2016.
Short sections at each end of the route are in use, traffic light controlled single file. The main construction line appears to be far from complete.
The bypass is now set to open within two months, according to the Shropshire Star.
The road was opened on Thursday 14th February.
