A4226 Five Mile Lane Improvement

Scheme outline

Construction of a length of new single two-lane road to replace the existing A4226 Five Mile Lane between Barry and Blackland Farm. The existing road is largely unimproved, with a very narrow formation and substandard alignment. The new road will allow smoother traffic flow and improved facilities for horse riders and cyclists.

As well as generally improving journey times and safety on this busy section of road, the scheme will also improve access to Cardiff Airport from the north.
