A533 MIddlewich Eastern Bypass 20 October 2018

Construction of a new single two-lane road bypassing Middlewich to the east, which will carry the A533 around the outside of the town avoiding Booth Lane. At the northern end it will connect to the A54 Holmes Chapel Road at the existing Salt Cellar Roundabout, north of which roads already exist to connect onwards to the A533 without passing through Middlewich.

The new road will also open up land on the south-east side of Middlewich for industrial and housing developments.

M56 New Junction 11a 14 September 2016

The scheme involves construction of a new interchange between junctions 10 and 11 of the M56, linking the motorway to the A533 close to Runcorn. The aims of the scheme are to reduce congestion and delays, particularly at junction 11 which is presently the main junction for Runcorn, as well as provide enhanced access to the new Mersey Gateway bridge.

A533 Mersey Gateway Bridge 8 June 2016

Construction of a new road bridge across the river Mersey about a mile east of the existing Runcorn-Widnes bridge. The scheme includes construction of approach roads on each bank to connect to the Runcorn Expressways and the A562 towards Liverpool.

The new and old bridges will be tolled.
