Upper Forth Crossing 19 November 2008

Construction of a new single carriageway, two lane bridge across the River Forth slightly north of the existing Kincardine Bridge. The scheme will link the new bridge to the A876 at a roundabout, and dual the A876 between there and the M876, providing a new grade-separated junction at the terminus of the M876. The scheme also includes a new access road to allow traffic to reach the eastern end of the Kincardine Bridge without passing through Kincardine itself.

A68 Dalkeith Northern Bypass 26 October 2008

Construction of a new route to the north-east of Dalkeith, connecting the A68 to the south of the town to a new junction on the A720 Edinburgh City Bypass between Sheriffhall and the A1. Originally the road was to be dual two-lane standard, but now that the reopening of the parallel Waverley railway line has been approved, the traffic surveys have been revised and the route will be single two-lane with additional climbing lanes. The intermediate junction will still be grade-separated for safety reasons.

A8000 Motorway Replacement 26 October 2008

Construction of new motorway to dual two-lane plus hard shoulder standard from the terminus of the M9 spur to a new limited-access junction on the A90 providing access towards the Forth Road Bridge. The new motorway will replace the A8000 link road from the M9 spur to the A90 which is presently heavily congested. The extended spur will continue to take the M9 number from its parent motorway.

A80 Auchenkilns Roundabout 26 October 2008

Upgrade of the existing roundabout to a grade-separated roundabout interchange, removing the biggest bottleneck on the M80/A80 route north-east from Glasgow. It is one of several schemes planned as interim measures before the M80 upgrade is ready to proceed.

A1 Haddington - Dunbar 26 October 2008

Realignment of the existing single-carriageway A1 onto a new-build dual carriageway, built to near motorway standard with two traffic lanes plus hard shoulder in each direction. The new route will run slightly to the south of the current alignment, from the terminus of the existing dual carriageway at Haddington to the roundabout at the start of the Dunbar bypass.

A recent study reccommended that two intermediate junctions should not be constructed: the plan, now accepted, will have no junctions except at its two terminii.
